So far, so good.

I think being on this "challenge" (I'm not going to call it a diet, though I know that's what it is) is good for me. Look at my fruit "tree!"

So far, so good on Special K. I'm nearing the end of Day 4 of 14 and I'm not even close to sick of it yet. I've been eating a "protein meal bar" for breakfast, so I'm really still only eating cereal once a day. Not bad! I've had to switch lunch and dinner a few times (eat normal for lunch and then cereal for dinner) because of work scheduling and lunch meetings, but I think that's okay. I'm DETERMINED to stick to it!

In other news, I'm going to the UT/Florida game on Saturday. It'll be my first UT game and this is a HUGE game. It should be a fun and crazy time! I'm glad it's the weekend (my weekend is Friday and Saturday -- remember, I work on Sundays!)... it will be a fun weekend, but I'm looking forward to some "chill" time, too.
Hope you are having a good week..... :)

Life

You should know that the price of gas here got all the way up to $4.99/gallon. WOW, that's a lot of money. But it has slowly but surely gone back down this week and today it is back down to $3.69/gallon. Thank goodness. Also - can I just tell you that I remember the weekend when gas was $3.69 - exactly what it is here today - and I would not go visit friends in Chicago (this was before I lived here) because it would be too expensive? I think my perspective has changed just a bit.

On another note, I'm trying the Special K challenge. I've always been intrigued by it, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Special K. Seriously, I should be on a commercial for them or something. Anyway, you eat a serving of cereal and milk for breakfast with a side of fruit. You do the same for lunch. For dinner, you eat as you normally would. You get two snacks a day (I do afternoon and evening) - Special K bars, fruit, veggies, etc. The claim is that you will lose up to a jeans size in 2 weeks. We'll see - I'm on day 3. So far so good on sticking to the diet. I don't have a scale, so won't be able to tell how much weight I lost, but I just know that my pants didn't fit. I'm going to gauge it by that! Let's hope they fit again by the end of this two week span!

Gas

I did it. I paid $4.49/gallon for gas. Many of the gas stations in the city are completely out of gas, and I had three-quarters of a tank, so I decided I better just suck it up and fill my tank. Luckily I wasn't on empty so it didn't cost me TOO much. Let's hope the fuel gets back to normal levels soon.

Mmmmmmm

Apparently I love Thai food. "Taste of Thai" is my new favorite restaurant. Who knew?

Where were you?

I've spent a lot of time reflecting today. It's September 11, and I can't believe it was SEVEN years ago that this date took on a whole new light. I couldn't help but think back on this day in 2001 and remember just exactly where I was...

I was in college. It was my freshman year - I had only been there for a short time, maybe three weeks. I was getting ready to go to class and for some reason, I turned on the TV. I never watched TV in the mornings before class. In fact, we rarely watched TV at all that year. Anyway, I saw it, heard it, everything, right there on the news. My roommate was in the shower so I started yelling at her to hurry up. I told her what had happened and headed off to class.

We got to class and my professor said he couldn't imagine teaching on a day like this so we talked a little bit about what had happened and then he let us go. It was like that pretty much all day long. That night there was a candlelight vigil on campus.

Wow. Seven years. Time flies... yet so much has happened in that time.

Where were you on this day seven years ago?

Out...?

I don't want make any premature predictions, but I just got home from youth group and heard that Tom Brady injured his knee and may be out for EIGHT MONTHS. Yes, friends, that would mean OUT FOR THE SEASON. Wow, would that be a break for the Colts! We'll find out more tomorrow....

Back at it

I'm back from vacation and it was SO great to be home. The babies are doing well and I had a wonderful time helping with all three nephews for the week. It was definitely hard to leave them!

Now we're in full swing at church with the new program year. Labor Day is behind us, so youth group, Sunday School, etc., can happen without many breaks in between.

The first Colts game is tonight and I'm totally pumped about watching it. Youth group ends at 8:00, which means I can be out of the church building by 8:15. That's what time kickoff is, so I'll be a little late, but at least it'll be close. Maybe by 8:30 or 8:35. :)

Thanks to all of you who hung out while I was home. Game night was tons of fun (DDR!) and we'll definitely need to do it again over Thanksgiving or Christmas.

It's time to start planning the mission trip for next summer for my senior highs. The middle school one is booked, but the senior high trip is not decided yet. We're going to start talking about it tonight - we'll see what the kids are interested in doing while on the trip.

Not much else to say now. Time to lay on the couch and watch football... because that's what I DO in the fall! By the way, I AM wearing my #18 jersey, of COURSE!
