I've spent a lot of time reflecting today. It's September 11, and I can't believe it was SEVEN years ago that this date took on a whole new light. I couldn't help but think back on this day in 2001 and remember just exactly where I was...
I was in college. It was my freshman year - I had only been there for a short time, maybe three weeks. I was getting ready to go to class and for some reason, I turned on the TV. I never watched TV in the mornings before class. In fact, we rarely watched TV at all that year. Anyway, I saw it, heard it, everything, right there on the news. My roommate was in the shower so I started yelling at her to hurry up. I told her what had happened and headed off to class.
We got to class and my professor said he couldn't imagine teaching on a day like this so we talked a little bit about what had happened and then he let us go. It was like that pretty much all day long. That night there was a candlelight vigil on campus.
Wow. Seven years. Time flies... yet so much has happened in that time.
Where were you on this day seven years ago?
