a few things

I just enjoyed a strawberry banana smoothie from my new blender. I had to replace the blender that I bought in college. I tried to use it the other night and ended up making my smoothie with a hand mixer (which didn't work so well - it was a very chunky smoothie!) because the blender wouldn't blend and also smelled hot. Never a good sign. Anyway, it worked well and the smoothie was refreshing and delicious! :)

Today I was at the bank drive-thru. I have some thoughts to share with you on that topic. First of all, people, if you're going to do a transaction that takes a long time, get out of your car and go inside. I was behind a guy who was doing something that was taking a really, really long time. I think he even got up there and shut off his car. Now what's the point?

Also, I went through at 9:00 a.m. this morning. The lady told me to have a good afternoon. I was thinking, "Boy, if she's already saying 'afternoon,' she's got a loooong day ahead of her!" I hope her day wasn't too long.

Is this week dragging on for you? I can't believe it's only Tuesday. At least tomorrow is Hump Day! Time to read and sleep.

today

It rained here today. A LOT. I happened to be in Linens 'n' Things at the time. I could hear the thunder outside and could only imagine the lightning. The lights in there flickered a few times - do you think they have emergency lighting in there? I was trying to kill time so as not to have to go back out in the pouring down rain, but I decided I better at least move to the front of the store so there was some light from the windows!!

I had a productive day at work today. Those are always good days. I was working on the Confirmation calendar for this year. I think tomorrow I will be doing more of the same, plus planning specific lessons! Let's hope I am even more productive...

Update on yesterday's story: Management did nothing for me except apologize. They also called the supervisor at the subcontracter (who is putting in the doors) and some bigwig from Atlanta called me to apologize, too. I was thinking I could get discounted rent next month or something, but they offered nothing in that realm. Hmph.

That shall be all for now. Time to do some reading and think about sleeping (yeah! it's early!).

Have a great night!

So.

So I came back from a "mini-vacation" last night. I didn't realize just how much I needed it until I was on it. It was SO GREAT. It was wonderful to see many of you while I was home... too bad I couldn't have been there for more than 48 hours, but that's okay. :)

Two things for you tonight, one realization and one story.

Realization: We are in TOUGH times when I think I've found a deal in paying $3.96/gallon for gas. WHOA. Let's hope the prices stop going up.

Story: My apartment complex is replacing all of the sliding glass doors with French doors. They look nice and I was excited to get mine. I drove around the day before I left for home to see if I thought they'd get to mine while I was away. I was pretty sure they would. I came home last night - got to my apartment (after a short detour to the grocery store) about 9:00 p.m. I had a new French door. Pretty. But the front door to my apartment was UNLOCKED. Not pretty. They didn't lock it after they did the work. Seriously, I haven't noticed anything missing, but that could have been SO MUCH WORSE. I'm going to talk to management tomorrow to see what they'll do to apologize. Hmmmm.

We had Noodle Night tonight at church (games with pool noodles, but on land). SO. MUCH. FUN. It's always a great time and the kids had a blast!

That's all for now. :)

Relaxation

Tonight it's time to relax. We got back last night from our senior high mission trip and had a great time. It went by too quickly, as mission trips always do, but we really did have a fantastic trip.

The last day had a few ups and down -- it was our fun day. We went to the beach and one of my youth fell off of another youth's shoulders and hit his head (a bunch of kids were playing football in the ocean) and we had a concussion scare and almost took him to the ER. But we didn't end up going and I saw him this morning and he still seemed fine.

Then we went to dinner and two youth went to the van to change out of their swim trunks... and locked the keys in the van while they were there. I totally knew they had done it before they even told me - I saw them playing Rock, Paper, Scissors by the van and just had a feeling... AAA saved the day (thank goodness).

A man (we don't know who) paid for our dinner that night, too. Apparently a man went up to the cash register and said, "I want to pay for the church group's meal and the tip." We were wearing our matching shirts that day, so I guess that's how he knew. But still, SO cool.

I'm exhausted and ready to sleep well tonight. I still had to be at church before 9 this morning, so tomorrow I'm definitely sleeping in! I'm ready to put in a movie and fall asleep right now, too, even though it's only 7:00. :)

Does anybody read this thing or do I blog to myself? Just wondering. ;)
